2012 ~ the PERFECT SUMMER! This vintage has the promise of one of the most supreme vintages in many, many years. The Oregon summer was glorious, with 80 days of no rain, temperatures in the 80's bright sunny days with cool evenings and it lasted well into mid-October. The Redman Vineyard produced mid to small size Pinot Noir clusters, some "hens and chicks" (large and small berries on the same cluster), this brings complexity to the wine. Full rich flavor, brix levels ranged from 23 to 25 and the pH ranged from 3.33 to 3.55. The fruit was clean and solid with no diseases. We had no bird damage, in fact, I did not sound a cannon or a bird screamer! Redman Vineyard harvested Pinot Noir on Oct. 9, we brought in approximately 20 tons, a 12 hour day with 50+ pickers.

We harvested the Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Arneis on Oct. 10, over 10 tons. Finished up more Pinot Noir on Oct. 11, 15 tons, all before the first raindrops. I am thrilled with the Arneis, these clusters were huge with less than an acre (.93) we collected 3.1 tons of Arneis! The Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay are stellar! Fermentation ranged from 13 to 16 days.  My winemaker, Dave Paige, Adelsheim Vineyard wrote "very nice!" that  is high praise from Mr. Paige.  Adelsheim Vineyard is leasing the Redman Vineyard and received 16 acres of fruit. I am thrilled with the professionalism, organization and communication from all employees with Adelsheim. My sincere gratitude to Dave, Gina, Chad, Kelli!
