It comes with a very heavy heart that the Redman Family informs you that Bill Redman, Redman Vineyard and Winery passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009 ending his intense six month battle with cancer. Bill was diagnosed with internal melanoma stage IV cancer mid September, 2008.

Harvest was coming on fast; Scott and Annie Shull of Raptor Ridge, extended their skills and facility to process, ferment and barrel Redman Wines. They continue to be active in the development and bottling of the 2007 and 2008 vintages. Dave Paige and David Adelsheim are graciously assisting with future 2009 vintage from harvest to bottling.

Bill and Cathy Redman have been active in the Oregon wine community since the mid 80’s, participating in many harvests, auctions and collection of Oregon wines. It was in 2004 that they realized their dream and purchased 30 acres on Ribbon Ridge, planting 22 acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Arneis. 2005 was Redman Wines first vintage, sourced from nearby vineyards. Redman Wines is a charter member in the Chehalem Mountains Winegrowers Association; Bill was on the Board of Directors.

The Redman Family is also releasing BILL’S BLEND, a blend of Pinot Noir and Barbera. Before dinner at the Redman’s Bill would go down into the barrel room to choose from his Pinot Noir and Barbera a blend of wine to match Cathy’s special meal. He was met with rave reviews from his guest who always wanted to take “Bill’s Blend” home with them. After 18 months in French Oak this rich, full bodied wine blended from Bill’s best barrels fulfill those guest’s wishes. Enjoy! BILL’S BLEND is $50.00 per bottle, no case discount. Less than 100 cases produced.
